The Old Dispensary, also known as Ithnasheri Dispensary, is an iconic historical attraction building in Stone Town. It is located along Mizingani Road just opposite to the main entrance of the Zanzibar ferry Terminal, the building is close to Mizingani Seafront Hotel and Palace Museum. It is called the Old Dispensary because it served as a dispensary in the first half of the 20th century.

The Dispensary is featured with decorations which symbolize the multi-cultural architecture and heritage of the Stone Town. The wooden carved balconies, adorned with stained glass decorations, bear a distinct Indian influence. The primary structure is crafted from traditional Zanzibari coral rag and limestone, yet embellished with stucco decorations reflecting European neo-classical aesthetics. Inside of the Old Dispensary, you can learn the History of the Dispensary and some History about Zanzibar islands.
